Season.

Standing at the edge of a field, looking over lush, rolling hills, letting the breeze play with my floor-length skirt, feeling it tickle my ankles. The day is overcast, showcasing the rather spring-ish weather we've been having. No drama, as if God were saying "today is a day of rest. Enjoy it." Rain adds the finishing touch.

“Hold summer in your hand, pour summer in a glass, a tiny glass of course, the smallest tingling sip, for children; change the season in your veins by raising glass to lip and tilting summer in.” -Ray Bradbury

by Anna

There is something so special about womanhood, that bridge between then and the person I am now. Each day, each season, another chapter is written in the book of humanity, and somewhere spattered in the middle. . .is me. Because each of us are a painting, a poem, a song. Our lives are but a map of God's Eternal plan--a guidebook to the gift of abiding in Him. In following the road to Calvary. Reaching for the Mark, walking through the valley. . .when there is nothing left but the Creator and the Created. Beautiful, confusing, freeing, frightening--all at once. Letting Christ write our Life Story. Never taking our eyes off His map, feeling the brush strokes. He's taken white, filled it with color, erased, began again. Splotches of black, jagged lines of red, cloudbursts of grey. Then comes the sun in bright yellow, shades and tones too vivid for human eyes. It's the roller coaster of life. Inside are painted, on the pages of the mind, the soul, lessons that makes my head whirl, my heart pound, my body throb. He's put me on a platform only to be knocked to my knees.

Funny how a post can begin with one thought and ramble away on its own. I don't think I can catch it now. ;) My blog has been calling me, now that canker sores have fled and I can speak and eat (kinda important, you know,) again. Thanks so much for the prayers! Life this summer has been all about getting to know my Jesus better, weeding in mud (please remind me NEVER to do that again!) rodeos, fireflies, and golden-pink sunsets. It's been about sweat, family, and finding joy in the little things. And the zoo. Because zoo's are just fun, and you never outgrow them.

right now. . .networking. Contacting, doing, working, planning, scheming. I have a whole list of ideas sitting on my dresser right now as I type, just waiting to be explored.
in my heart. . .a new motivation for knowing Christ. Not just in word, not just in knowledge, but in radical-living.
on my reading list. . .'Wrestling Prayer', Eric and Leslie Ludy.
listening to. . .silence. Typing. Breathing.
playlist favorites. . .'Run Free', 'Windancer'
feeling. . .optimistic. Excited about the new adventures God and I are working on.
loving. . .the 'Love Comes Softly' books and movies. Sometimes ya just need cheesy, heartwarming, cozy romance. ;) Oh, and Dunkin' Donuts coffee.

  1. Beautifully written! :) Amen, life is meant to be lived, our lives to be transformed and to be living testimonies of Jesus! Jesus must be all to us, then we shall truly know what living is as we walk in His way!

    1. Agreed, but I'm talking about something even deeper. In prose I tried describing the spiritual battles of the Christian--the radical thing that happens when we truly surrender. It's so easy to say "I live my life for God." Do we really? Going through the motions is one thing. . .but actually BREAKING is something completely different. Giving our will entirely to God. Reaching a point of saying "I can't do this anymore. I can't fight anymore--take me." We are but a speck in God's eternal plan! :)

  4. Love you, Mich. Love these words. You are such an encouragement to me.

Yes, those "Love Comes Softly" books are perfect when you want a clean, sweet, "cheesy" romance. :-)

Keep finding incredible joy in our incredible Savior!

    1. And I love you! (and you are an encouragement to me. So there. <3 )

Oh goodness, they are! I've only read the first book so far, but we are working through the TV series. Funny, because I am the biggest hater of cheap Christian romance. . .but there is really something so wholesome and GOOD about Janette Oak. Gives me fuzzy feelings. :P

haha. . .yessss. And after our last trip to the zoo. . .I'm positive I want a Clouded Leopard for a pet. Just sayin'.

    1. Yeps. And enjoying every bit. We're going on the fifth installment. Now, I've heard lots and lots of bad reviews (terrible acting, etc,) but since I haven't read all the books yet, I can't complain. Of course the acting IS terrible and there is tons of cheese, but like I told Rachel (above,) they are just cozy. Good rainy day films. :)

      Ooooh. . .can't wait!
