in which we discuss lace-up boots.

i'm absolutely crazy about the lace-up boot trend this fall. no, completely obsessed with it. something in the slightly-weathered, vintage-y, victorian/steam punk, ladylike yet rugged look just screams "buy me and wear me". because they look simply smashing with skirts of all kinds, add a bit of class to casual, and other manners of wardrobe essential-ness.

my ultimate dream was a pair of knee-length riding style (not overly fond of the more "combat" type,)--like the ones above from Ruche. however European [lacy and/or open] knee socks with shorter skirts and mid-calf boots are adorable. in my humble opinion.

Modcloth and Ruche (which btw, I am now a proud affiliate of--see link at right,) have some of my favorites. i've scored both sites up and down like a ravaging wolf--salivating, coveting, shouting "oooh, look at THESE!" every five minutes (whenever i discovered a new "dream boot") and wishing money grew from trees. the works. i'm crazy about boots as it is, but the lace-ups are just too much. which is why i finally broke down and bought a pair.

what do you think, ladies? are you crazy about the lace-up trend too, or do you prefer the dressier, more traditional styles? knee length, mid-calf, or bootie?--and i'm curious, how would you style the lace-up look? personally i think they look super chic with skirts and dresses. imagine a pair peaking from a classic straight-cut skirt (with belt, tucked blouse and cardigan for a completed look.) can't wait to style mine throughout the rest of the cold-weather season. now that the honey is washed out of the laces we're good to go. ;)

  2. At first I wasn't sure about them but the more I've seen them in different outfits the more they are growing on me. My favorite in the boot department is a classic riding boot (my brown pair are used almost daily :P) with a short skirt and leggings or pants tucked in.

  4. I'm on the quest for a tan lace-up wedge bootie. Like on my wish list Pinterest page. Haven't found them yet...sniffle.

I'm all about the thick tights and wooly socks peeking out of the top of the boots. Now all I need is wooly socks, thick tights and boots. Hehehe. ;)

  5. I love boots--as soon as the weather even thinks about cooling off, I'm donning boots. I wear them with skirts, pants dresses...just about everything. Lately I've been eying these with some envy

  6. I love the fancier heeled lace up boots-I would love to get some and try the effect of ribbons instead of laces.

  7. Wow, I'm drooling over every pair in this post!! I've been devouring boots too, but I haven't done much looking at lace-ups ... I think I'm going to have to start!!

  8. You're just torturing me to death! In the loveliest way...
I've been loving on this style for a few years now, and I pretty sure I'm *that* close to getting myself a pair. If I find a bargain, that is... $250+ is heartrending. Particularly swooning over the Industrial Evolution boot and the women's Wolverine (the one linked to my blog). Sigh.
    Oh - and AMEN. <3

  9. I wear lace-up boots (mid-calf), and have got compliments from guys on how practical and stylish they are. Lace-up boots look nice with skinny jeans or skirts/leggings, plus they're waterproof!

  10. No, don't show me these shoes! This shoeaholic is about to succumb to the beauty. <3 I absolutely love the second pair, btw. I think they would look great with skinny jeans and a tunic. Ooh, or with a knee-length hi-lo skirt (like this: http://www.shopbop.com/skirt-enza-costa/vp/v=1/845524441930072.htm?folderID=2534374302024619&fm=other-shopbysize&colorId=12867). Or with a dress that has an uneven hem. Or...well, there are endless possiblities. ;)

  11. Oooo!! I loove these boots! I've been seeing a lot of tall boots around, and thinking "hmmm...I should get a pair of those" (a bit more suitable for autumn/winter than my denim bow flats;) ) All of the sizes are pretty neato --I really liked the last boot (the lighter colored one).
I never got a chance to comment on your last two posts, but I just wanted to tell you I just LOVE the movie "You Can't Take it With You" too!! As well as The Hobbit!!:) You write such great reviews!!

  13. Oh, I love lace-up boots. I totally need some after seeing all these beautiful pictures. I think my favorites would be the ones that rise just above the ankle a couple inches. They would look perfect with any skirt I may be wearing.
